Accessories.

There are many accessories available to cloth nappy users; some essential, some and some useful, some you'll wonder how you lived without, and some you'll wonder what you wasted your money on.
Here we have put together the essentials, along with some that you might find make your nappying life that bit easier.

Liners.
Liners are a product that most cloth nappy users find essential. A liner provides a barrier between the nappy and the baby’s skin, which allows solids to be more easily dealt with, and usually provides some element of stay-dry protection.
Flushable liners are the easiest to use, as they can be flushed away with any solids, thrown away, composted, or washed and re-used. Washable liners are available in polyester fleece, which provides a moisture barrier, or silk, which has healing properties. click here for liners

 

Other Accessories.
To a large extent, your nappy method will determine what additional accessories you need. For example, if using nappies that fasten with poppers, you won’t need any nappy nippas.
Your lifestyle, age of baby, and personal preferences will also influence your requirements.

Polyester Stay Dry Liners.
Polyester is non-absorbent, so these liners act as a stay-dry barrier between the nappy and the baby’s skin. They can be used in addition to a flushable liner, or instead of, as solids do not stick to the polyester, and can quite easily be tipped into the toilet

Bourette Silk Liners.
Silk acts a natural healer, and these 100% silk liners can help cure nappy rash, or prevent its occurrence when your baby is ill or teething. These liners are to be used instead of flushable liners, and though they can be messier, use just when needed for a dramatic improvement.

Tea Tree Oil.
Dry storing is usually adequate for dirty nappies, but if your child is ill, or if the nappies are particularly badly soiled, soaking may be preferred. Just add 5 drops to a bucket of water. Also suitable for cleaning cuts and grazes, treating thrush, ulcers and small blemishes, and soreness after childbirth.

Wet Nappy Bags.
Use when out and about for carrying used nappies, to save buying horrible smelling plastic nappy sacks which harm the environment. Made with a waterproof fabric, they open and close easily with a drawstring and toggle.

Nappy Nippas.
Nappy nippas are the modern alternative to pins to be used for fastening terries, Bumbles, and any other terry nappy which does not fasten with Velcro or poppers. Easy to use, and perfectly safe for baby as nippas don’t pierce the nappy.

Large Muslins.
A few muslins are a useful addition to any nappy collection. When the baby is tiny, they can be used in place of nappies, and when the baby is older, they can be used as boosters to increase absorbency of larger nappies. Can also be used as burp cloths, mopping up cloths and comforters.

Made with the same fabric as the Motherease wraps, and lined with soft terry, these pull up pants are designed just to deal with momentary lapses, and are not intended to be super absorbent. They are available in 3 sizes, in white and the same four eco-theme patterns as the Motherease wraps.

Motherease Night-Time Pants.
With a white polyester cover, and a three layer cotton soaker panel inside, the night-time pants are easy to use, easy to clean, and relatively quick drying. As the name suggests, they are designed for older toddlers and children who can’t quite make it through the night, and they are very absorbent.

Swim Nappies
Made of a stretchy swim suit material, with an inner layer of netting, which allows water to escape, and catches any little accidents. The nappies fasten with poppers for ease of removal, and have soft elastic at the waist and legs. They are available in Jade or print, and there is a swim top available in the print as an optional extra for little girls.
